Texas License to Carry Course will meet the training requirement to obtain your Texas LTC. This course is approximately 5-6 hours in length and will cover Texas law on carrying a handgun/using deadly force, handgun safety, non-violent dispute resolution, and safe storage practices. Texas law requires each student to score at least 70% on the written test and 70% on the shooting qualification (175 of 250) that is given during this course. First Right Training works very hard to ensure that every student will leave with the knowledge of Texas LTC laws, the proper attitude to have when carrying a firearm, and more importantly, how to carry responsibly and safely. The LTC course is not designed to teach proper handgun shooting or safe handgun operation, students should know how to shoot safely before enrolling. If you are unsure about shooting well enough to pass the 70% requirement, worried about committing a safety violation on the range, or just not that comfortable carrying or handling a handgun on your own; please sign up for the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course before enrolling in this CHL course. NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course is designed to teach the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. No prior experience is needed to enroll in this course. Many students have rarely, if ever, fired a pistol or any kind of firearm before joining this course. If you don’t have your own firearm to bring, we can provide you one to use and learn on for the day. It consists of 8 hours of instruction, including 2 hours of range time, covering parts of pistols, ammunition, firearm handling safety, shooting fundamentals, cleaning and maintenance, and ways to continue pistol shooting after the course. This is a perfect course for new, beginner an even intermediate pistol shooters to learn or relearn the basics and safety fundamentals. If you feel uncomfortable or a bit fearful of handling a pistol on your own or find looking for a new pistol in a gun store or gun range an intimidating experience, this course is the cure. One on one courses are available for $250 upon special request. Regularly scheduled courses with 2-6 students are $75 per participant. Students under 18 are welcome with parental or guardian written permission. Michael is available for one on one beginner to intermediate pistol instruction. He can help with as little as just getting shots in tight groups on target, to beginning shooting and reloading on the move. Lessons are available for $60/hour with a 2 hour minimum.
